What is it?

We work with a client to help them classify their applications based on importance to the business. It is from this process that the most critical ones will be selected as requiring a level of High Availability. Key to achieving high availability is the ability to shrink the recovery time needed to resume system operation while preserving data integrity. Some of the questions to answer include: does a system need fast recovery or recovery to the exact state prior to the failure or both? If you do not resume processing right where you left off will it be acceptable or maybe damaging or catastrophic?
